My plan for this shoot was to take photos of flowers. I knew that it would be hard to find flowers because it is winter which isn't the season for anything floral, but I got white flowers as gift over the weekend so I decided to take photos of those. I knew that taking the photos wouldn't be too challenging, but editing them to be red would challenge my editing skills.
My Shoot:
For this shoot I took pictures of a bouquet of flowers in my dining room that were white and pink. I arranges them in a vase in order to make them look a little nicer and make them easier to photograph. I used several different setting on my camera and tried shooting from a variety of different angles in order to make each of the images different somehow,
My Edits:
To edit these photos I changed the vibrance, hue, saturation, and the color balance in order to change the flower from white to red. Around the edges I also used the blur tool so that there wasn't a distinct line where I changed the color of the flower. These photos challenged me the most because I usually don't really edit my photos, but this week I had to edit them a lot in order to get the color I wanted,
My Printed Photo:
The title of this photo is Love because the color theme for this week was red and red is supposed to elicit emotions of love. I also titled it love because this image is kind of dark with only one pop of color so I feel that the title Love gives the image a sense of irony. The image feels sort of hopeless or lost even though love should hold a promise. I chose to edit this image in black in white because I really wanted the red to pop against the black background. I wanted the image to be a little dark, but for there to still be some color in the image. The biggest challenge I had with this photo was editing the flower's color from white to red. I really wanted the flower to be a vibrant red not a somewhat shade of pink. I normally prefer to keep my images really natural, but I was trying to push my creativity and get out of my comfort zone with this shoot. The elements of art used in this photo are color and space. Color can be seen on the red flower as this is the only color in the image. Space is used on the left side of the image because it is basically just black area that is empty. That area really makes you want to look into the space to see if you can see anything. Overall, I'm very proud of my final product.
