My plan for this shoot was to take photos while I was at photos while I was at Oklahoma State University for a college visit. There school colors are orange, black, and white so I though it would be really to take photos of America's brightest orange while I was surrounded by it.
My Photo Shoot:
For this shoot I was in Stillwater, Oklahoma for a college tour at Oklahoma State University. Prior to making the trip down there I had planned on taking pictures for my orange shoot while I was there because their colors are orange and black, so I thought what better place to take pictures. I struggled a little bit with getting good quality images because there were so many people and lots of activity going on around me. I was trying to get cool shots, but also still focus on the game and focus on not being in anybodies way. I think my close up shots turned out a lot better than the ones I tried to take from a distance as well.
My Edits:
These edits I did in Lightroom because I really liked the raw form of each photo. The only editing I really did was turned up the clarity and brightness. I also messed around with the vibrance and contrast of each photo in order to really get the orange to pop. Orange is a fairly bright color on it's own so I didn't want to make it too bright where it made the viewer hard to look at. I really just wanted the audience to know that orange was the focus of each individual image. I did try something new this time around by turning up the texture on a few the images because I really liked the look that it gave the turf.
My Printed Photo:
This is the image I chose to print because I love not only the vibrance of the orange, but the motion of the flags as well. I feel like the flags add an additional element to the photo that really set it apart from the rest. The viewers eyes is immediately drawn to the three orange flags in the image. The title of this image is Enthusiasm because you can feel the intense excitement and hype of being on the field preparing for the game to begin. In this moment you can see dozens of people all gathered together ready to support their team. Some of the elements pf art seen in this photo are color, texture and space. I've always struggled with space, but I feel like the turf without people on it provides the photo with space so that the image isn't so crowded. I also see space between each of the flags, this space encourages the viewer to look on to the next flag. A key principle in this photo is movement because the flags are waving, the people are running, and the team is walking out of the tunnel. One struggle I had with capturing this movement was making sure that it wasn't blurry. I wanted to capture this moment, but I didn't want any of the players, cheerleaders, or fans to be blurry because it would take away from the image. I adjusted my settings and was able to successfully capture the image I wanted, which made me very excited! Overall, this was an amazing experience and probably one of the best shoot I've had so far.
