My plan for this shoot was to take pictures of books because it's another thing I love! I wanted to take pictures of books outside because most people picture books in a library. I wanted the audience to see the book/books in a different place. I also LOVE Christmas so I really liked that this tree looks like a Christmas tree and that the book also is a Christmas book.
My Shoot:
For this shoot I took some of the books I have at my house and went outside to take pictures of them. I placed a book in a tree that is in my yard and zoomed in very close so that the pine needles provided a natural frame and blurriness. I also laid some books open on the ground and placed leaves on them or around them. Another thing I did was make a pile of leaves then placed the book on top. I really wanted to highlight the red of the cover of the book because it stood out so much.
My Edits:
For my edits I mostly messed with the brightness and contrast, but also used some filters. I wanted to mess with the brightness and contrast so that the photo might look a little older and not so bright. I really like the dimmer look with the photo of the book in the tree. I prefer my photos to look natural so I just add simple filters to highlight key parts if the picture or to make the picture more universal. I also added a lens flair to make a black and white photo a little more dynamic. The flair really highlights the heart in the picture since it is black and white.
My Printed Photo:
This photo is of a book in a tree and the tree looks pretty Christmasy to me. The colors are dimmed down some so that they are darker. The red cover of the book really looks like a barn, it is like a burnt red. The photo also has a winter feel with the darkness of the photo and the white snowflake designs on the cover of the book. A book was used to create a focal point of the photo, to capture the audience's attention. The book is tilted so that it gives the book a different dimension. So that the photo wasn't straight up and down like your average photo. Also the pine needles provided a natural blur around the book. This photo uses color with the red of the book. The whole photo is pretty dark and doesn't have a lot of color, but the burnt red of the cover provides that hint of color that is needed. Also focal point is used with the book or the title of the book. The bright white of the title really stands out and draws the viewers attention in an otherwise dim photo. Also the cover of the book is very eye catching and draws the audience in. This photo was created to show the photographers love for reading or just book in general. It can be inferenced that that the photographer really like Christmas based on the feel of the photo, the title of the book, and the tree the book was placed in. I really like this picture because it expresses the things I love. Also it has a different darker dynamic compared the the other photographs I have taken and edited.
