My plan for this shoot was to take photos of the little Christmas tree in my room because it was green. I struggles deciding on what to shoot for this color because I knew I wanted to shoot trees, but I didn't take into consideration the season and how hard it would be to find a nice green tree. Then I thought about how my Christmas tree was green and had lights on it so I wanted to experiment with that.
My Shoot:
For this shoot I plugged in my Christmas tree in my room and took photos of the tree from different angles in order to really capture the lights on the tree as well as the greenness of the tree. I struggled for a while trying to take photos around the lights on the trees, but then I realized the light emphasized the color even more which was my main goal .
My Edits:
To edit these images I changes the hue and turned up the vibrance in order to make the green more vibrant. Because my tree was fake I really need to turn up the brightness and the vibrance up to create that holiday green that I was looking for. I also blurred the third image a little because I thought it looked cool because I took the image so close to the branch. The angle was straight on with the branch, so I thought it would be cool to blur out the part of the image that were closest to the camera.
My Printed Photo:
This is the image I chose to print for my green shoot it is titled Envy. I really enjoyed getting in the Christmas spirit by taking pictures of my Christmas tree. At first I was a little stumped with what I was going to take photos of for this shoot because there isn't a lot of green around this time of year. I realized that if I wanted to keep my images as natural as possible I needed to find something that was artificially green. After lots of thinking I finally decided that the tree in my room would be the perfect focus for this shoot. I tried at first to shoot without the lights on the tree, but the images were very dark and you couldn't see the green that I was trying to capture. Once I turned on the lights I was able to see a variety of shades of green which was perfect for the purpose of this shoot! When editing this image I just turned up the brightness, so that the different shades of green were more visible. I also played around with the hue as well as the brightness in order to see the brightness of the Christmas lights in different aspects. I really like how there are a variety of dark and light elements in this images, I feel like it gives the image more depth and dynamics. One of the key elements of art I see when looking at this image is texture; I see the texture of the fake pine needles. I also see the principle of art: contrast. The light and the dark parts of the image are contrasting against each other, but it also works as a whole. Overall, I really like this piece of art and I look forward to adding it to my color wheel.
