My plan for this shoot was to take pictures of my family over Thanksgiving. I wanted to capture the love families have, especially during the holidays. I really wanted to take pictures of my parents, grandparents, and my brother. I also knew I wanted a really nice background that complimented my photos well.
My Shoot:
To take these photos we drove up past Miller Middle School into the mountains and found this pond/lake that was really beautiful. You could also see the peaks with snow in the background as well as water and trees. I really wanted to capture the water so I put my parents in the tall grass so that it offset the blue of the water. I also used a red bench as a prop to bring another element into the photos. The bench really brought out the rustic feeling I was looking for.
My Edits:
For my edits I really didn't want to change much, but just use filters to change the photo up. It was really bright the day we went to take pictures to I wanted to bring down the brightness and fix the shadows that were caused from the sun. The biggest problem I had was adjusting the photos so that the whites weren't so bright, but also that the shadows weren't too dark. I also used the clone stamp to remove the dog leash from the photo of my brother.
My Printed Photo:
This photo is of my parents and captures their love for one another. It also showcases nature with a mountainous background. I wanted the focal point to be right in the middle of the photo for a portrait. I did change the angle though so that it was slightly different, but still captured al the elements I wanted. I didn't use any materials in this photo, mostly just using nature to my advantage. The focal point of this photo is my parents because we were taking family photos and the colors they are wearing match each other very well. The viewers eye is drawn to the people in the middle. I also used to color to highlight the colors nature was providing for this photo. I brought the brightness of the colors down so that it was more subtle. The purpose of this picture was to capture the love between to people and family. I wanted to focus on the love that you can find wherever you look. I really like that this picture is very simple, but also is able to get a point across.
